There's a quote that we really like which goes 'Work hard in silence, let your success be your noise'. That's one of our mantras here at Huw David Design.
We like to think that we go about our business quietly, putting our client interests and activities before our own. We are like ducks. On the surface we're calm, but out of sight we're paddling furiously. We work hard so that our clients don't have to.
We're not really ones to boast, shout, talk a lot and we're not fully immersed in social channels such as twitter etc. Yes we're there, but we see ourselves more as observers rather than large contributors. A concern could be that in today's world we run the risk of being lost, or forgotten about, if we're not seen to be 'out there'.
The sound of silence may not give the perception of success.
That said, we're keen to not just add to the noise. We're adopting a different method to broadcast our news and views and share our stories.
We're in the process of recruiting a Marketing Assistant to our team. This, we hope, will prove to be a key role within our business. This 'person' will be focused on our marketing, not client projects. There is a clear job description and remit, which doesn't merge with the activity that we do for our clients.
This additional resource will allow us time to have more of the quiet, meaningful conversations we like to have with our clients (both old and new), rather than having to shout to the masses in the hope that someone will hear us.
Making time for us
We're guilty of always leaving our own work as the last item on the to-do list and then watch as other jobs supersede it in terms of priority. That is changing slowly and we're now investing more and more time and resource into our own brand. It's quite an exciting time that's full of opportunity.
Over the last 12 months we've had some great successes and there has been some major developments that we really should have shared earlier. There's been an office move, new team members, the unveiling of some great branding projects and also the delivery of new services that have benefited our clients immensely. We're not doing ourselves justice if we don't broadcast these.
So turn up your speakers, we're about to start whispering more and more!
