Professional experience
Self-Employed/Freelance Designer
November 2005 — Present
Since November 2005 I have been working tirelessly on a broad mix of exciting projects. These include large long-term commissions, design and consultancy work for start-up businesses and established businesses alike.
I am very proud to have been appointed as a call-off designer for Cadw, the Welsh Assembly Government's historic environment division. Working closely with the Cadw Publications Unit I help produce corporate and promotional materials for Cadw.
I have also been assisting Sequence, Wales' largest Internet services agency on a freelance basis, working on a number of their high-profile projects.
Senior Designer, Staziker Jones Design Consultants
February 2000 — October 2005
Staziker Jones at the time were a small concern with big ambitions. After joining the founding partners (Ceri & Leigh) as a Junior Designer I rapidly improved both my design skills and understanding of the commercial design industry as the company grew and prospered. Throughout my career at Staziker Jones I was responsible for the day-to-day activities of a busy design studio. Whilst initially working closely with Ceri & Leigh, I was soon working independently, handling large projects from initial brief through to final delivery and dealing directly with clients and suppliers. I became the Senior Designer at Staziker Jones and led a team of three other multi-disciplined designers.
My creative skills, awareness and understanding of production techniques for both online and offline media were a great asset in the smooth running of a busy studio, producing high-quality solutions to a variety of clientele.
Designer, Meridian Design
September 1999 — February 2000
Meridian Design were in the process of expanding their design services when I joined the team. Primarily offering a reprographics facility to the print industry, they had a growing design portfolio. During my time in university and higher education I had made a proactive effort to learn more about the design trade and print production techniques — working in a local printers during holidays etc. This being my first full-time job, I was keen for my education in design to continue.
Whilst at Meridian I was able to increase my knowledge and understanding of print production. This was an invaluable experience which has benefited me no-end in my career since.
